Annual Pay Range $36k-$75k depending on sales and experience Job Description Purpose: The Parts Counterperson sells automotive parts at retail to customers over the counter, through the shop, or by phone. Duties and Responsibilities: Assist walk-in customers in selecting required parts, suggest companion products, and offer specials. Pull purchases from stock, determine availability for out-of-stock items, and submit emergency orders as requested. Answer phone calls to provide price quotes, information, and support to outside sales representatives and customers. Set up orders for daily shipment, delivery, or customer pick-up. Assist service technicians in selecting parts needed for repairs and process repair order envelopes for new orders. Order parts not in stock after discussion with Shop Foreman to ensure timely use upon receipt. Notify Shop Foreman and customers when ordered parts have been received. Verify that technicians present duplicate repair orders and parts requisitions before parts are charged out; file appropriately. Process customer returns and issue credits with proper documentation and manager approval for exceptions. Handle credit card transactions in accordance with dealership guidelines and notify credit department of declined cards. Maintain clean and organized counter areas; replenish assigned inventory daily. Operate company and customer vehicles safely and legally; maintain valid driver's license and insurability. Follow all company safety policies and procedures; immediately report any accidents to a manager or supervisor. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information. One year of experience in an automotive parts dept. One year of sales experience. Professional personal appearance. Ability to work well with the public, sometimes with several customers at a time. Will be required to wear a dealership uniform at all times.
