Description The Fleet Parts Specialist is responsible for maintaining adequate vehicle and equipment parts in inventory, distributing and logging parts to Diesel Technicians and for the Maintenance Shop, along with ensuring an accurate accounting of parts ordered and in stock in accordance with Company policies and procedures. Essential Functions: Ensure compliance with safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies. Contribute to a positive, team-oriented culture while upholding the company’s core values. Maintain adequate level of parts ensuring availability and cost control. Source most cost-effective parts vendors who can meet required specifications. Order and receive parts from suppliers/vendors ensuring timeliness and accuracy of order and delivery. Follow company PO request procedures Follow up on back-ordered parts regularly. Verify will-call and back-order files weekly and returns to vendors, or stocks those items not picked up or required. Notify the Parts Manager when special order parts have been received. Verify deliveries of parts to ensure quality and quantity matches original purchase order. Distribute parts to technicians upon receipt of authorized requisition. Maintain log of part(s) requisitions and work orders. Research problems or questions about parts. Reorder parts based on company guidelines and procedures. Stock shelves and bins after receiving parts deliveries. Travel to vendors to pick up parts on an emergency basis. Generate reports on a timely and accurate basis. Complete required paperwork timely and accurately. Perform general housekeeping duties in and around parts area to include neatly stacking and storing parts, sweeping and emptying trash receptacles as needed. Assist with taking inventory as needed. Communicates professionally and respectfully with internal customers and co-workers. Perform other duties as needed Requirements Minimum Requirements: Prior experience in an automotive / diesel parts or shop environment required. General office experience Proficient Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook. High school diploma or equivalent. Effective communication skills. Ability to read, write, count and perform basic math functions. Physical Demands: Ability to sit, stand, kneel, stoop, and reach with arms for long periods of time. Ability to lift a up to 40 lbs. from floor to waist frequently. Ability to carry up to 40 lbs. frequently. Ability to ascend and descend stairs regularly and safely while carrying up to 40 lbs.
