Boeing Commercial Airplanes is excited to offer opportunities for a Parts Straightener to join our Fabrication teams in Puyallup, Auburn, and Algona Washington.
As a Parts Straightener you will have the opportunity to work with advanced machinery and techniques to ensure that critical components meet the highest standards of quality and precision. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 1+ years of experience using software applications for internet navigation, email, Microsoft Suite and/or other specialized computer applications.
  • Must be able to lift, push and pull up to 35 pounds frequently within an 8 hour shift.
  • Experience reading and interpreting drawings, specifications, material processes, schematic and diagrams.
  • Experience using precision Measuring tools.
  • Experience using basic math (e.g. addition, subtraction, multiplication and division).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to work in noisy environments while completing tasks.
  • Forming or Press experience.

TYPICAL EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • High school graduate or GED preferred.

Responsibilities
  • Obtain work packages from the ready-to-work rack or as assigned, reviewing tie-ins from prior operators to ensure continuity.
  • Review Work Orders (W/O) and Production Order numbers (P/O) to determine work requirements, ensuring the correct type and quantity of parts/materials are issued and prior operations are complete.
  • Access and review appropriate drawings, Boeing (BAC) specifications, and necessary documents to perform the job, utilizing online information systems as needed.
  • Check machine setups and parts completed by previous operators to assess job progress and ensure safe working conditions.
  • Select and attach machine accessories, tools, fixtures, and shop aids using appropriate hardware, ensuring all apparatus is in good condition.
  • Move parts/material to the work area using overhead cranes or manual methods, loading them into hydraulic presses or manual tools as required.
  • Insert or load material for forming or straightening operations, adjusting pressure gauges and travel indicators as necessary.
  • Verify that forming and straightening operations are completed within tolerances per drawings and BAC specifications, using check fixtures or contour templates.
  • Clean parts with denatured alcohol before forming or straightening operations, as required.
  • Communicate with supervisors, team leaders, QA, or Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) for assistance or to address any issues that arise.
  • Handle and dispose of hazardous materials in an approved manner, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
  • Maintain personal and tool certifications as required to ensure operational excellence.
  • Hand-straighten, form, and finish heavy parts that require complex curvatures and exact fitting to checking fixtures and templates.
  • Set up and operate various types of hydraulic and mechanical straightening equipment to restore parts to specified shapes and conditions, utilizing hand or power hammers and other tools as necessary.
  • Perform rework and reforming of parts and assemblies, demonstrating thorough knowledge of different types of metals and their reactions to stress and strain, and create checking devices or shop aids for personal work as needed.
