POSITION SUMMARY:

The Parts Superintendent will lead a high functioning parts department as a values-based leader. Responsible for monitoring the acquisition and fulfilment of Wendling Quarries, Inc. parts orders. Responsible for maintaining a large inventory of operating supplies with appropriate stocking levels, while accomplishing the company’s financial goals. .

Responsibilities
  • Leadership: Leads in alignment with the mission, vision, and values of WQI by modeling the way as a servant leader, setting the example for all others to follow. (Approximately 10% of time is spent on this function)
  • People and Culture: Ensures a highly safe, engaged, enabled, and aligned workforce by being a visible and vocal advocate for servant leadership and values-based leadership. Promotes the core values of WQI through words, actions, and VBL. (Approximately 20% of time is spent on this function)
  • Inventory Management: Maintains a large inventory of operating supplies with appropriate stock levels. Monitors Wendling Quarries and subsidiary inventory levels. Provide quarterly updates to Equipment Manager with running inventory value and changes in stock levels. Monitor parts for relevance and monitor transactions for high turn parts that are not in the inventory. Work with the Equipment Manager to Audit the inventory and adjust annually. With a focus on operational excellence, work with colleagues and vendors to find the most economical and high performing parts and supplies. (Approximately 30% of time is spent on this function)
  • Coordination and Technical Support: Monitor department email and ensure coordinators fill orders in a timely, organized, and efficient manner. Review new products presented by salespeople. Get feedback from field and shop personnel on the success of new products. Back up/replace parts coordinators for vacations, sick days, bereavement. Keep workplace and storage facilities organized. Be responsible for the safety of salespeople and visitors entering the shop facility. Ensure the use of safety glasses, hard hats, etc. with adherence of WQI safety policy. (Approximately 40% of time is spent on this function)
    Education Level: Associate’s degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school
    Education Major: Supply Chain Management
    Work Experience: Six months to one-year-related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    Direct Reports: Parts Coordinators and Parts Runner (4-6 total)
    Behavioral Requirements: Adherence to the company values and associated behaviors.
    Business / Technical Knowledge: Understanding of inventory management and mechanics. Knowledge of business fundamentals. Proficiency with Microsoft office suite.
