Breakfast Chef / Cook Location: The Gables of Fitchburg Assisted Living Community Schedule: Tuesday through Saturday, 6:00 AM – 11:00 AM (25 hours per week) Position Summary The Gables of Fitchburg is seeking a dependable and energetic Breakfast Chef to prepare and serve breakfast for our residents while completing lunch preparation for the afternoon meal service. This position plays an important role in providing high-quality meals that contribute to the health, comfort, and satisfaction of our residents. The ideal candidate enjoys working independently, maintains high food safety standards, and takes pride in preparing attractive, nutritious meals in a senior living environment. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesBreakfast Service Arrive promptly and prepare the kitchen for breakfast service. Prepare and cook breakfast items according to menu and resident preferences. Ensure meals are served on time and presented attractively. Accommodate dietary restrictions and special meal requests as directed. Maintain food temperatures and food safety standards throughout service. Assist with resident meal delivery when needed. Lunch Preparation Prepare ingredients and menu items for lunch service. Complete prep work including chopping vegetables, preparing proteins, soups, salads, desserts, and side dishes. Label, date, and properly store prepared foods. Communicate effectively with the afternoon kitchen staff regarding completed prep and special instructions. Kitchen Operations Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen. Follow all local health regulations and food safety procedures. Wash dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment as needed. Monitor inventory and notify supervisors of needed supplies. Assist with receiving and storing deliveries. Support other kitchen functions as assigned. Qualifications Previous cooking or food service experience preferred. Experience preparing breakfast foods strongly preferred. Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Reliable transportation and excellent attendance. ServSafe certification preferred (or willingness to obtain). Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds. Ability to bend, reach, and perform routine kitchen duties.
