JOB PURPOSE:

To provide safe, caring, and reliable escort support during school transport for children with Special Educational Needs and/or disabilities (SEND), and vulnerable adults. The role involves working alongside a driver to ensure passengers are transported to and from school or care settings safely, comfortably, and with dignity.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Escort children and/or vulnerable adults with special needs during daily school runs.
• Ensure the safety, comfort, and wellbeing of all passengers at all times.
• Assist with boarding and disembarking from the vehicle, including securing seat belts and any necessary mobility aids (e.g., wheelchairs).
• Maintain professional and compassionate communication with passengers, families, schools, and transport staff.
• Monitor passenger behaviour and provide support in accordance with individual care or behaviour plans.
• Report any incidents, concerns, or issues promptly to the relevant authority (e.g., transport coordinator or safeguarding lead).
• Ensure all safeguarding procedures are followed in line with local authority policies.
• Maintain confidentiality and respect the dignity of all passengers.
• Conduct pre-journey checks related to passenger requirements (e.g., medication, special equipment, or behaviour needs).
