Passenger Leakage Analysis Consultant Location: Remote with occasional travel to Greater Binghamton Airport (BGM) Contract Type: Project-based / Consultant Agreement Reports To: Commissioner of Aviation, Broome County Department of Aviation Hourly rate: $70 -$75 Objective To conduct a comprehensive passenger leakage analysis for BGM to identify travel patterns, quantify outbound passenger volumes lost to competing airports, and provide strategic insights that strengthen the airport’s case for new or sustained air service. Key Responsibilities Collect and analyze passenger travel data, including booking trends, origin-destination statistics, drive time market metrics, and ticketing information Determine the volume and characteristics of passengers using alternative airports instead of BGM Identify critical factors influencing leakage, such as airline pricing, destination availability, schedule convenience, and customer preferences Prepare a detailed analytical report highlighting leakage volumes, root causes, and geographic breakdown of passenger diversion Collaborate with the BGM team to incorporate findings into air service development presentations for airline meetings and community outreach Recommend data-driven strategies to recapture leaked passengers and improve air service retention Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Management, Transportation Planning, Data Analytics, or related field (Master’s preferred) Minimum 3 years of experience in aviation market analysis or airport consulting Proficiency in aviation datasets (e.g., MIDT, T-100, ARC, DOT O&D) and data visualization tools Strong understanding of market dynamics influencing passenger behavior Exceptional analytical, communication, and presentation skills Deliverables Leakage Analysis Report (with visualizations) PowerPoint summary deck tailored for airline and community presentations GIS or heatmap visuals indicating leakage zones and market capture potential Strategic recommendations for air service improvement
