ABOUT THE ROLE AND WHERE YOU WILL BE WORKING:

Victoria Park Nursing Home is a welcoming, heritage-style residence in Kalgoorlie, home to 22 residents. With its bright, cheerful rooms and close proximity to Kalgoorlie Hospital, St Mary’s Catholic Church, Hannan Street and the Goldfields Highway, it provides a supportive and community-focused environment for both residents and staff.
We have a fantastic opportunity for a compassionate and dedicated Pastoral Care Worker to join our team on a permanent part-time basis (25.5 hours per fortnight). In this role, you will play an important part in enhancing the emotional, spiritual and social wellbeing of our residents, offering care, comfort and connection within our community.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

  • Familiarise yourself with the policy and procedures of Pastoral Care at Southern Cross Care and work in accordance with those policies and procedures
  • Maintain appropriate boundaries as You will not be asked to provide nursing or personal care to the residents.
  • Respect and maintain confidentiality of the facility and residents
  • Record visits and submit monthly statistical returns to your manager.

TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS ROLE, YOU’LL NEED:

  • Have developed skills in empathy, sensitivity and patience when working with residents
  • Respect the right of residents to confidentiality and privacy
  • Have well-developed interpersonal skills to communicate effectively on all levels both written and verbal.
  • Have the ability to work harmoniously with people from a diverse range of social, economic, cultural and religious backgrounds.
  • Be comfortable with the distinctly Catholic ethos of the facility.
  • Be flexible to work increased hours, if required.
