We are growing and love to hire people who want to grow with us.
We are excited to offer an opportunity to join our talented team of bakers at Hoxton Bakehouse. We are looking for a skilled Baker/Pastry Chef to become part of our pastry team. In this role, you will assist in preparing our daily orders of croissants, pain au chocolat, pain aux raisins, morning buns, cinnamon buns, tarts, cookies, and muffins — all made from scratch each day.
You may also be required to work in different departments occasionally, including the bread section, where you will make sourdough bread, scones, and brioche buns.
You will be part of a friendly, hardworking, awesome team based in our Bakery near the docks in Southampton.

A bit about you:

  • Have a passion for baking
  • Have experience working in a similar bakery, hotel, or restaurant
  • Thrive in a busy environment and be able to maintain the required pace, currently we make around 1000 to 2000 pastries a day
  • Have experience working with lamination products an advantage
  • Positive can-do attitude with great communication skills
  • Friendly and a strong team player
  • Hard-working, organised with attention to detail
  • Experience of improving and maintaining food safety and hygiene standards
  • Be reliable with the flexibility to work both weekdays, weekends and day and evening shifts

A bit about the role:

  • Mixing enriched doughs
  • Shaping cinnamon buns
  • Shaping laminated items, including croissants, pain aux raisins, pain au chocolat, and citrus buns
  • Making and baking cookies, muffins, and tarts
  • Preparing fillings and icings
  • Completing daily cleaning tasks
  • Collaborate with the team to meet production goals efficiently
  • Communicate with and be part of an awesome team, helping to maintain a positive working environment
  • Adhere to food safety regulations and maintain cleanliness in the kitchen
  • Working 40 hrs per week, five days a week, on a rota basis across seven days. Including early morning and evening shifts.

We bake over 1 million loaves and pastries a year, with a mission to bring better bread to more people. We have an ever growing wholesale business and six retail stores which sell not just our bread and pastries but also our own roasted Seadog coffee.
