ABOUT THE APPRENTICE PROGRAM

During the apprentice program, the Pastry Chef/Cake Decorator Apprentice works with a Master Pastry Chef and a Decorator to learn about how Lunds & Byerlys provides sensational products to our customers. This program also includes a short period at our production facility to learn from our manufacturing decorators. Th program is tailored to the individual, whether you have five years of pastry/decorating experience, or just a passion for baking and decorating, through this program the apprentice will learn all they need to become a Pastry Chef/Decorator at Lunds & Byerlys!

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education:
  • Required: High school diploma or equivalent

Experience:

  • One year or more decorating and baking experience desired

Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Computer Skills (Outlook, Excel, Word)
Responsibilities

Our Pastry Chef/Cake Decorator Apprentices are responsible for a wide variety of tasks such as:

  • Greeting and assisting customers
  • Learn how to produce and merchandise pastries, traditional cakes, special occasion cakes, and specialty items
  • Learn how to decorate items such as cookies, pies, and cakes
  • Learn how to fulfill specialty orders for customers
  • Learn how to manage inventory
  • Assisting bakery staff with other miscellaneous tasks as needed
  • Maintaining cleanliness of the department
