We are currently looking for a PASTRY CHEF de PARTIE to join our dynamic team at BLACK+BLUE RESTAURANT. Inspired by the classic steakhouses of Chicago, Black+Blue re-imagines the concept for a new generation. A massive dining room built around a custom-built meat locker, filled with the most exotic and precious cuts, it’s the sexiest room and hottest vibe in the city. A three-storey temple dedicated to creating amazing experiences, expressly designed for the people who make Vancouver an amazing place to be.

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Plan and direct food preparation and cooking activities
  • Estimate food requirements and may estimate food and labour costs
  • Requisition food and kitchen supplies prepare and cook food on a regular basis
  • Arrange for equipment purchases and repairs
  • Assist to recruit, hire and train staff
  • Prepare and cook baked goods, pastries on a regular basis, for special guests and functions
  • Prepare and cook baked goods, pastries or specialty foods
  • Supervise kitchen workers
  • Demonstrate new cooking techniques and new equipment to cooking staff
  • May plan menus and requisition food and kitchen supplies
  • Ability to communicate in English
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

  • Foodsafe certified or equivalent (within 1 week of employment)
  • Certification of culinary training or apprenticeship, Red Seal and journeyman certificate or equivalent is preferred
