We specialize in crafting high-quality pastries that bring joy to every bite, and we’re looking for a talented and passionate Pastry Chef to join our team as we open our new café.
Position Overview
We are seeking a creative, dedicated, and skilled Pastry Chef to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in creating a wide range of kosher pastries, from classic favorites to innovative new creations. This role involves overseeing the daily preparation, baking, and presentation of all sweet and savory pastries, ensuring they meet our high standards of quality and consistency.
Key Responsibilities
- Pastry Preparation: Prepare a variety of kosher pastries, including cakes, cookies, pies, tarts, breads, and other specialty items, adhering strictly to kosher dietary laws and ingredients.
- Menu Creation: Collaborate with the café’s head chef and management team to develop new pastry items, seasonal offerings, and special promotions that align with our café’s brand and theme.
- Kosher Compliance: Ensure all baked goods are in full compliance with kosher laws, including ingredient sourcing, preparation, and handling. Maintain proper separation between dairy and meat products.
- Quality Control: Oversee the quality of pastries, ensuring they meet the highest standards of taste, presentation, and consistency. Perform quality checks on ingredients and finished products.
- Inventory Management: Monitor and manage inventory of baking supplies, ensuring that ingredients are fresh and properly stored. Work with management to place orders as needed.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with kitchen staff to ensure smooth and efficient production. Train and mentor junior bakers and kitchen assistants as needed.
- Customer Interaction: Occasionally interact with customers, sharing insights into the ingredients and process behind our kosher pastries, fostering a welcoming and educational atmosphere.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Pastry Chef or in a similar role, preferably in a kosher or fine-dining environment.
- Strong knowledge of kosher dietary laws and the ability to maintain strict adherence to kosher principles.
- A creative and innovative approach to pastry design and flavor development.
- Excellent knowledge of pastry techniques, including doughs, batters, and icings.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Passion for baking and creating high-quality products that bring joy to customers.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
- A culinary degree or equivalent experience is preferred.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.83-$21.75 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 44 per week
