JOB SUMMARY

Catering by Design is now hiring an exceptional Pastry Chef to join our Denver. CO based team. This culinary professional will maintain the high-quality standards of the Pastry Kitchen, focusing on development and production of the pastry kitchen needs. Our pastry chef is responsible for baking and finishing all daily required items for the Denver Botanic Gardens and other Catered Events. They will work in tandem with the other Sous Chefs and the Chef de Cuisine to ensure operations of the entire kitchen are running as need. Will be required to work outside of the Pastry Kitchen to assist in other business needs.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Culinary degree is preferred
  • Minimum three years related experience in upscale, high volume restaurant and/or catering operations
  • Ability to demonstrate creative and quality driven pastry skills
  • Must have good food knowledge and recognition of quality product
  • Strong knowledge of current food and catering trends with a focus on using seasonal ingredients, production, sanitation, food cost controls, menu development and presentation
  • Excellent overall computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of safe and sanitary food handling principles
  • ServSafe of Department of Health certification a plus
Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Daily production of all pastries and baked goods for catered events.
  • Complete delegated tasks and prep list items, in a timely matter.
  • Tastes and visually inspects all prepared food made in the kitchen.
  • Executes recipes efficiently and consistently.
  • Assists in portion necessities and portion control for all food functions and recipes.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and perform duties under pressure.
  • To lead by example, support and demonstrate strong leadership in the Kitchen.
  • Possess Knowledge of new trends, techniques, a sense of artistry, and elegance.
  • Must be able to adjust to innovating styles and concepts of pastry decorations.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment keeping Pastry Kitchen sanitary at all areas at all times
