JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented Pastry Chef to lead our pastry program in Albany, NY. The Pastry Chef will be responsible for crafting high-quality desserts, baked goods, and specialty pastries that align with our brand and delight our guests. This role involves recipe development, kitchen leadership, and hands-on execution, requiring both artistic flair and strong technical skills.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree or certification in Baking & Pastry Arts or Culinary Arts preferred.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a professional pastry or baking environment, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or lead role.
  • Strong knowledge of classic and modern pastry techniques.
  • Creative, detail-oriented, and passionate about delivering high-quality products.
  • Ability to manage time and prioritize in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work standing for long periods.
  • Familiarity with food safety regulations (ServSafe certification a must).
Responsibilities
  • Design, prepare, and present a wide variety of desserts, pastries, breads, and specialty baked goods.
  • Develop new menu items and seasonal offerings that align with customer preferences and business goals.
  • Ensure consistent quality, portion control, and presentation of all pastry products.
  • Oversee daily production schedules and manage inventory of ingredients and baking supplies.
  • Train and supervise pastry assistants and other kitchen staff as needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the pastry kitchen, ensuring compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations.
  • Monitor food cost, minimize waste, and contribute to overall kitchen efficiency.
  • Collaborate with chefs, management, and event staff for catering, holiday menus, and special events.
