The Hermitage Inn seeks a talented pastry chef to join its growing team. Pastry Chef responsibilities include preparing quality pastry items such as breakfast items, desserts, breads, ice creams, sorbets, creams, simple syrups, amenities (chocolate bonbons, candies and other confections), and special request items.

PASTRY CHEF QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:

  • Basic written and verbal communication skills
  • Organizational skills
  • Accuracy and speed in executing tasks
  • Ability to work as a team member
  • Follows directions and instructions
  • Ability to stand on your feet for several hours and life 50 pounds
  • Demonstrates adequate pastry skills and operations with one year of experience as a pastry chef or a recent culinary graduate
  • Be able to plan and prepare for restaurant, catering and special events

Responsibilities
  • Execute and produce the dessert program of the Hermitage Inn.
  • Chocolate work, frozen desserts, lamination and other techniques that are typical to the Pastry Chef position.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment; use equipment and tools only as intended, properly and safely
  • Maintain and strictly abide by state sanitation/health regulations and hotel requirements
  • Meet with the Chef to review assignments, anticipated business levels, changes and other information pertinent to the job performance.

  • Establish priority items for the day
  • Prepare all menu items following recipes and yield guides, according to departmental standards.
