Description Pastry Chef Job Description Job Summary The pastry chef is responsible for preparing, baking, and presenting desserts such as cakes, pastries, breads, and plated sweets. They ensure high-quality standards, develop recipes, and often lead dessert sections in kitchens. ________________________________________ Key Responsibilities Prepare and bake a wide variety of desserts (cakes, pastries, pies, breads, chocolates) Design and create new dessert menus and recipes Decorate pastries and desserts with artistic presentation Monitor ingredient quality and kitchen cleanliness Manage inventory and order supplies Supervise and train junior pastry staff Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene standards Work with head chefs to coordinate menu planning ________________________________________ Skills & Qualifications Strong knowledge of baking techniques and ingredients Creativity and attention to detail Time management and organization skills Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment Knowledge of food safety regulations Teamwork and leadership abilities Ability to stand, walk, bend, and stoop for an extended period of time during shift. Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds. Typical Requirements: Culinary or pastry arts diploma (optional but preferred) Experience in a bakery, restaurant, or hotel kitchen Hands-on baking and decorating experience
