JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are seeking a talented Pastry Chef to join our culinary team on a full – time basis. This driven individual will have prior experience working in a pastry department or working with a large, organized pastry team. Responsibilities will include preparing quality items such as breakfast and High Tea pastries, desserts, creams, simple syrups, amenities and special request items.
Applicants must be legally eligible to work in Canada.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Baking/Pastry degree or relevant high-end restaurant experience
  • Good knowledge and skill in production of cakes, pastries, petit fours, chocolate tempering, dessert plating, decorating, etc.
  • Must have proper knife handling skills and adhere to safety regulations.
  • Have an understanding of dietary needs and allergies regarding pastries.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, high volume environment, paying attention to detail and accurately completing orders as requested.
  • Meet with the Executive Chef to review assignments, anticipated business levels, and other information pertinent to the job performance.
  • Have excellent time management skills and be able to prioritize.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the daily management of the bakery and the entire pastry staff, ensuring quality control measures are being adhered to
  • Plan, prep, set up, and prepare quality products in all areas of the Pastry department, costing, scheduling, inventory
  • Monitor the quality of food prepared and portions served throughout shift
  • Follow through with the Executive Chef’s orders
  • Strong kitchen and leadership skills with a proven ability to coach and develop staff training
  • Supervising workers to ensure compliance with occupational, health, and safety standards
  • Wash and disinfect pastry area; set-up and break-down work station; and follow and ensure compliance with sanitation and cleaning procedures.
