  Job Description:
  Salary Range: $46.88 - $55.81
  Reporting to the Manager of Laboratory Medicine, as a Pathology Assistant you will have demonstrated skills and ability in examining, describing, dissecting, weighing and photography of small and complex large gross surgical specimens of all tissue types. Familiarity with equipment and tissue processing. Demonstrated computer proficiency; Meditech and Fluency experience an asset. Prepare educational material and mentor medical students and lab technologists/technicians. Develop processes for laboratory quality assurance, actively participate in and maintaining activities related to the quality management system. Actively ensures compliance under the Accreditation Canada guidelines. Responsible for quality control and participates in gap analysis and corrective action activities. The physical demands of the role may include but are not limited to prolonged sitting, standing, walking, bending, lifting, pushing and pulling. This position contributes to ensuring there is a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• Graduate of a recognized Pathology Assistant MSc program
• Previous hospital experience is required.
• Meditech experience is required
• Registration with the American Association of Pathology Assistants (AAPA) and/or CCCPA .
• Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis is required
