Job Summary To schedule patient appointments and make reminder calls and to be first and foremost contact point between the patient and the healthcare in all aspects of the interactions and engagements. Job Responsibilities 1 Ensure that outpatient and inpatient admissions are thoroughly screened for insurance coverage and have required pre-authorizations, to safeguard the hospital’s accounts receivables, determine patient responsibility and cash collection at time of service. Monitor the work of staff to verify that they are thoroughly gathering patient demographic and financial information to maximize payment for services rendered. Act as liaison with physicians, patients, ancillary departments, nursing staff, finance and all other hospital departments, insurance companies, government regulatory agencies and outside entities when problem occurs, problem solves and corrects all day-to-day operational problems and reports such problems to management. Ensure the accuracy and completeness of daily registrations. Ensure a high level of quality service provided to patients. Responsible for adequate staffing and overage in all Patient Access areas. Job Responsibilities 2 Responsible for staff development, including training, reviews of progress and communication of findings. Monitor all Patient Access processes generally and individual workers specifically to assure compliance with department policies & procedures. Monitor scheduling interaction and performance with physicians and patients to ensure appropriateness. Offer guidance to employees related to Point-of-Service collective activity. Keep up to date on changes imposed by MOPH, Commercial Insurance as well as laws impacting health care Ensure appropriate utilization of human resources during vacations, Illness or other events that may arise. In concert with the Director, participate in the recruitment, scheduling and discipline of staff. Establish the short and long-term strategy for the division, translate it into business plans with objectives and performance indicators and report on the progress of activities against those plans to measure success to support the achievement of PIH’s strategic objectives.
