Description Department Name: CLINIC Position Title: Patient Access Representative/Financial Counselor Reports To: Clinic Manager To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. POSITION SUMMARY STATEMENT: In this position, the Patient Access Representative /Financial Counselor answers all incoming telephone calls, serves as the first point of contact for customers and visitors, collects business office payments and correspondence, and provides support functions for other staff. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Greets customers, answers calls, takes messages, and routes to appropriate department or individuals in facility. Schedules appointments for clinic, physical therapy, and radiology departments using the scheduling function in the computer system. Register patients for hospital, emergency room, out-patient and clinic services and obtain needed information for billing and demographics for EHR. Prepares and maintains patient charts for EHR. Accepts and logs payments for billing staff and responds to account inquiries; collects co-payments and discusses account balance, payments and payment plan requirements as needed. Opens and closes clinic; and removes all charts/patient information from front area to locked back office. Help other employees, as needed in Clinic, Lab, Physical Therapy and Hospital. Post triage verification of ED/observations/medical inpatient/authorization of work comp and auto accidents on census. Facility census verification daily.
