As a Patient Access Representative, your responsibility is to deliver an exceptional experience to patients, families and visitors, from the moment they enter to the time they return home. You will assist them with everything from registration and information gathering to payment collection and insurance verification. This position is in the Admitting and Registration Office, the central point where patients sign in for laboratory services such as blood work, check in for scheduled surgeries and procedures, and receive information regarding billing, insurance coverage, and other administrative matters. This role is a great steppingstone to others within Customer Service and various departments within Cleveland Clinic. A caregiver in this role works days from 6:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. with rotating weekend and holiday requirements. A caregiver who excels in this role will: Perform registration and obtain information about demographics, insurance, medical and financial. Crosstrain to staff all areas of patient access, such as front desk, admitting office, ED and cash register. Function as a Super User and act as a resource for training of new caregivers. Provide registration and cash collection access in Epic. May rotate to different locations/hospitals based on staffing needs. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: High School Diploma OR GED and three years of experience in a customer-facing role with in person or phone contact OR an Associate’s Degree and two years of experience OR a Bachelor’s Degree and one year of experience Knowledge of medical terminology OR completion of course within year of hire Basic PC software application knowledge and ability to use multiple data systems Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Healthcare experience Physical Requirements: Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information. Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods. Ability to work with physical records or operate a computer or other office equipment. In some locations, ability to travel throughout the hospital system. In some locations ability to move up to 25 lbs.
