Description PURPOSE STATEMENT The Patient Access Representative main function is to register and schedule patients, obtain authorizations for treatment, manage the charts and patient information, prepare patient charts, mange the phone inquiries, perform order entry for lab and Diagnostic Image testing, and ordering unit supplies. The Patient Access Representative must be a patient advocate and perform their tasks using the ASPIRE values as their guide. Excellent communication skills are essential. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Demonstrate the ability to be flexible and organized. Prepare medical records for patient care. Transcribe orders into the computer system. Routinely attend departmental meetings and hospital forums. Routinely participate in department projects to continuously improve. Assist co-workers as needed/requested. Completion of mandatory department and hospital education. Use AIDET consistently in daily tasks. Perform insurance authorizations. Register and schedules patients and their PHI accurately. Order supplies for the unit. Manage the phone contacts as well as calls patients before their scheduled treatment/visit. Maintain regular and predictable attendance. Perform other essential duties as assigned. Requirements EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS High school diploma or equivalent. Typing skill of 35+ WPM. Previous clerical experience preferred. Must be self-motivated and have the ability to work within the established policies, procedures and practices prescribed by the hospital/clinic. PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS Must be able to sit and stand, intermittent 8 to 10 hours a day. Must be able to use standard office equipment, including the telephone and computer keyboard. Continuously works under pressure of near 100% accuracy while meeting inflexible deadlines. Continuously utilizes manual/bi-manual dexterity, near vision, speech, and hearing. Frequently stands, walks, sits and utilizes eye/hand coordination and color definition. Occasionally reaches above shoulder, regularly required to life and/or carry up to 40 lbs. Occasionally walks on uneven surfaces.
