Cabell Huntington Hospital is seeking a full-time Patient Care Assistant to work with our team in the Clinical Observation Unit.   The Clinical Observation Unit can have a broad range of adult patients ambulatory and non-ambulatory, that meet initial criteria for observation. The department will serve to provide efficient protocol-based care to patients with well-defined diagnosis or presenting symptoms such as chest pain, COPD, asthma & congestive heart failure.  The Patient Care Assistant works in a supporting role to nursing by conducting patient care activities.  Applicants provide direct and indirect non-professional nursing care under nursing or medical supervision. Primarily this includes but is not limited to performing duties such as cleaning, taking vital signs, obtaining lab specimens, charting, escorting patients, assisting with activities of daily living, managing clerical duties and ordering and receiving supplies.   To be considered, candidates must provide documentation of an 80% or higher score on the Medical Terminology exam. Qualifications * High School diploma or equivalent required * Medical Assistant degree or West Virginia C.N.A. license or PCT Certification required * CPR within 90 days of employment * Glucoscan within 90 days of employment * 1-2 years of experience preferred.
