Position Summary

As the Patient care specialist, you’ll play a key role in creating an exceptional experience for every patient and customer. You’ll work closely with the Optometrist, opticians, and the rest of the team to keep the front of the store running smoothly — welcoming patients, managing appointments, performing preliminary tests, and assisting with basic administrative tasks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and customers warmly upon arrival
  • Manage front desk responsibilities, including making/answering phone calls, scheduling appointments and handling patient inquiries.
  • Conduct preliminary tests and gather patient history to support the optometrist.
  • Understanding and triaging emergency eye care.
  • Handle insurance claims, billing and payment
  • Keep reception area tidy, welcoming, and organized
  • Maintain accurate electronic medical records and ensure privacy standards are upheld
  • Support other team members as needed during busy periods
  • Contribute to a positive and team-oriented work environment

Qualifications

  • 1–2 years of experience in a receptionist or customer service role (healthcare or optical experience is an asset)
  • Comfortable working with scheduling software and handling basic administrative tasks
  • Warm, professional, and approachable demeanor
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to multitask and stay calm under pressure
  • Team player who enjoys helping people and solving problems
  • Interest in optical or healthcare settings is a bonus
