Job Description Primarily responsible for the delivery of non-clinical care to all adult and or pediatric patients. Responsible for delivery of clinical care as delegated by licensed nurses and within the scope of practice. Responsible for promoting positive interactions with staff, physicians, patients, families and other visitors. SHIFT AND SCHEDULE Full Time, Nights, 6:00pm-6:00am ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS • Follows expected workflows and processes set up for the delivery of non-clinical and clinical care. • Demonstrates positive effective communication, including education with patients and families, physicians and other healthcare team members, and professional communications skills. • Provide a safe environment for patients, families and co-workers, including handwashing, and adherence to infection control policies. • Demonstrate professionalism including current AED’s and other competencies, following dress code policies, participation in orientation of new team members. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE • High School Diploma or GED preferred • If working in the Total Joint Center: Required to complete eight (8) hours of hospital provided continuing education hours upon hire and annually. Education will focus on management/care of total hip, knee and shoulder replacement as well as elective spine surgery patients. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential responsibility satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. The individual must be able to • Stand, walk, sit, stoop, reach, lift, see, speak and hear. Lifting is limited to 35 lbs. for clinical staff and to 50 lbs. for non-clinical staff. The individual must use an assisted-lift device or get another individual(s) to assist with the lift that is over these maximum limits.
Responsibilities
The Patient Care Assistant is responsible for delivering non-clinical and clinical care to adult and pediatric patients as delegated by licensed nurses. They must also promote positive interactions with patients, families, and healthcare staff while maintaining a safe environment.
