Description
Temple University Hospital's Burn Unit Patient Care Assistants (PCA) must willing to learn how to assist our licensed nursing staff with dressing changes (set-up and assist). The PCA helps provide direct and indirect patient care duties under the guidance and direction of the Registered Nurse. Responsible for implementing components of the plan of care based on physical, psychosocial and spiritual needs. Provides comfort, safety and emergency measures; activities of daily living: personal care needs, nutritional and elimination needs. Measures vital signs, performs ECGs, and capillary blood glucose needs. Observes and reports the functioning of equipment, the results of treatments, condition of dressings and any change in patient condition. Incorporates the concepts of the Hospital's Customer Service Program into all aspects of patient care activities (i.e. confidentiality, responsiveness, caring). Accountable to the Nurse Manager or designee for all activities. Adheres to policies and procedures of the department. If certification is not present at hire employee must successfully complete the onsite nursing certification program within 90 days of hire. Education High School Diploma or Equivalent Required Combination of relevant education and experience may be considered in lieu of degree Nursing Assistant or Medical Assistant Program or completion of at least one clinical rotation in an accredited Nursing program Preferred Experience 1 year experience in a patient care role Preferred Licenses Basic Life Support Required Certified Medical Assistant Preferred Certified Nursing Assistant Preferred
