ABOUT THE ROLE:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Surgical Coordinator to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of patient care before and after surgery, including consultations, scheduling, and ensuring all pre-operative documentation is completed accurately and on time. You’ll work closely with patients to provide them with necessary instructions and support, while also liaising with the surgical team to ensure smooth and efficient operations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Schedule all surgical cases for assigned provider.
  • Ensures successful credentialing of the practice and providers, adhering to all necessary processes and requirements.
  • Provide pre-operative instructions to patients, monitor incoming patient information from various sources and scan all documents into patient charts.
  • Counsel patients’ for all surgeries.
  • Stay current with the latest technologies & medication and be able to answer general patient questions.
  • Discuss benefits and costs of insurance and/ or cosmetic cases.
  • Forward packet of surgical paperwork to our surgical facility.
  • Inform patients of any pre-admission testing (Labs, EKG, etc.) as needed. Counsel patients on what is expected the day of surgery, answer any pre-surgical questions, and inform of follow up care.
  • Work with OR scheduling office to ensure all OR cases are scheduled in a timely manner as according to physician direction and all appropriate paperwork is received by appropriate parties.
  • Have an understanding of the billable diagnosis per procedure codes.
  • Maintain database to ensure all pre-surgical forms, medical clearance documents, patient radiological exams and laboratory work is completed in a timely manner within the guidelines of OR scheduling.
  • Work with clinical operations manager to improve utilization of OR block-time and release unused OR time.
  • Review surgical and clinical forms for completeness and accuracy for all surgical procedures.
  • Seek approvals surrounding physician schedule(s) in order to utilize and accommodate additional OR time; communicate approved changes with various staff members, identify conflicts with physician clinic/academic and OR schedule, provide suggestions and assist in the resolution of conflicts.
  • Accurately complete surgical billing.
  • Collect deposit and final payment from patient.
  • Follow up with cancelled surgery patients and ensure we schedule follow up and or new surgery date.
  • Follow up with patients that did not follow through with booking a quoted surgery.
  • Work on special projects; perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
  • Schedule pre-operative and post-operative visits.
  • Required Training: Conforms to all applicable HIPAA. Billing compliance and safety guidelines
  • Other duties as assigned.
