Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for an experienced Registered Nurse to join the Labour and Delivery team as a Patient Care Coordinator/Educator at qathet General Hospital in Powell River, BC. Apply today to join our team!
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nursing Professionals (BCCNP).
- Completion of post basic specialty nursing certificate/program if applicable, and three (3) years’ recent, related experience in the designated clinical area.
- One (1) year’s related administrative/supervisory experience and one (1) year’s related teaching experience and/or group facilitation or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Valid BC Driver’s License may be required as local area travel may require the use of a vehicle, and will be noted on the posting.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Knowledge of evidence informed nursing practice related to designated clinical area.
- Demonstrated ability to provide leadership, supervision, work direction and consultation.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate (orally and in writing) and deal effectively with clients and their families, coworkers, physicians, other health care staff, and staff of external agencies, either one on one or in groups.
- Demonstrated ability to teach, demonstrate, facilitate and coach.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver educational materials for staff/patients/clients and families based on educations theories, principles and best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to promote a supportive and creative learning environment.
- Demonstrated ability to establish workload priorities in collaboration with others.
- Demonstrated ability to provide effective consultation.
- Knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in patient care.
- Broad knowledge of hospital policies, procedures and standards of care.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and in collaboration with others.
- Demonstrated ability to set priorities, problem-solve, adjust to unexpected events and deal with conflict.
- Demonstrated ability to function effectively and efficiently in emergency situations and guide others in order to deliver quality patient care.
- Demonstrated ability to lead change and support staff through transition.
- Knowledge of basic research, e.g. research ethics, research question, hypothesis and qualitative and quantitative data analyses methods.
- Demonstrated skill in clinical techniques and the use of applicable equipment and supplies.
- Demonstrated computer literacy to operate a computerized client care information system as well as applicable word processing, spreadsheet and database software applications.
- Demonstrated skill in CPR techniques.
- Demonstrated physical ability to perform the duties of the position.

As per Ministry of Health policy, all health care workers working in publicly-funded health care facilities are required to report their past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections.
