Act as first point of call for all patient enquiries and ensure an effective and efficient reception service is provided to patients and any other visitors to the practice. Deal with all general enquiries, explain procedures and make new and follow-up appointments, signpost to appropriate services and record requests for home visits. Be responsible for the scheduling of appropriate clinical consultations and using judgment and communication skills ensure that patients with no prior appointment but who need urgent consultation are seen in a logical and non-disruptive manner. Explain Practice arrangements and formal requirements to new patients and those seeking temporary cover and ensure procedures are completed.
Develop and maintain a clear understanding and knowledge of the local services and availability to ensure effective and efficient use of the appropriate practice teams. Action repeat prescription requests, prepare lists and notes for all surgeries and clinics held, ensuring completion of all associated paperwork. Advise patients of relevant charges for private non-NHS services, accept payment and issue receipts for same. Entering new patient registrations on to the IT clinical system (TPP / SystmOne) Update the clinical system for patient changes of registration status as notified.
Request patient registration deductions from the clinical system as appropriate Undertake any other additional administrative duties appropriate to the post as requested by the Partners or the Practice & Business Manager
