Position: Patient Care Coordinator- Infusion/ Oncology Department: Outpatient Infusion SVCS Shift: 7AM-5:30PM/ Rotating hours/ 8 hour shifts Status: Full-time/ 80 hours per pay period/ 40 hours per week Facility: Miami Valley South The Infusion Center Patient Care Coordinator (PCC) is responsible for tasks that are integral to complex, interdisciplinary patient care coordination and is a multi-skilled individual able to perform administrative and clinical duties under the supervision of the Registered Nurse and delegated in accordance with the Ohio Board of Nursing. The PCC is the initial point of contact for all patients and visitors to the department. This individual is responsible for administrative duties that may include coordinating all incoming calls, collecting a variety of patient data, entering patient information and charges into the hospital system, scheduling appointments, completion of registration by collecting and entering all pertinent financial and demographic information into the ADT system, verifying insurance benefit information, generation of the ABN, reviewing orders for compliancy, completion of MSP, obtaining financial and treatment consents, scheduling ordered medical tests and procedures, obtaining a pre-certification when applicable, preparation of patient hybrid charts, and providing clerical support while maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements. Clinical duties may include assisting patients to and from the department, obtaining and recording vital signs, assisting with patient care, identification of abnormal findings based on established standards and guidelines and reporting those findings to the Registered Nurse, and stocking/ordering of supplies. The Infusion Center PCC must demonstrate customer focus with patience, composure, and compassion. Must be able to deal with ambiguity by effectively coping with change; possess strong time management skills, interpersonal savvy, while supporting peer relationships. Demonstrates expert functional/technical skills while providing financial assessment and evaluation of each patient entering the hospital. The Patient Care Coordinator is required to maintain excellent customer service standards at all times in order to effectively communicate with physicians, physician offices, patients, and co-workers. Patient Care Coordinators are required to efficiently perform all duties while ensuring patient confidentiality and privacy rights. Education Minimum Level of Education Required: High School completion / GED Licensure/Certification/Registration Current HealthCare Provider or Professional Rescuer BLS CPR certification required prior to completion of orientation. Experience Minimum Level of Experience Required: No prior job-related work experience Preferred experience: Prior direct patient care experience. Medical terminology. Customer service, general clerical/office, hospital, medical office/clinic, or insurance company. Applicable class work may be substituted for previous work experience. Other experience requirements: Successful completion of one of the following: 1.Completion of previous STNA or CNA training or Patient Care Technician/Assistant training. 2.Direct patient care experience within the last five years: Performing fundamental skills of vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure) & direct patient care activities ie. Bathing, turning/positioning, toileting 3.Currently enrolled in nursing school and completion of at least one clinical rotation. Special Consideration: If the candidate has previous direct patient care experience, they may be excused from fundamental training (BCOP) upon completion of successful skills validation. This is in lieu of the above requirements. Knowledge/Skills Ability to perform a variety of tasks, often changing assignments on short notice. Must be able to multitask with constant interruptions while maintaining a pleasant demeanor Basic computer knowledge Will be required to learn and work with multiple software/hardware products to be used during an average workday Strong organization skills Effective interpersonal and communication skills Must be able to maintain a professional demeanor in stressful situations Must be adept with machinery typically found in a business office environment.
