Description

Overview:
The Patient Care Tech will assume responsibility and accountability for providing support services to ensure continuity of care and help to meet the department goals as directed by the health care team. The Patient Care Tech will perform patient care activities in caring for the personal needs and comfort of patients. They will assist patients with personal hygiene, nutrition, elimination, skin care, use of equipment and other clinical and administrative tasks which are delegated and assigned. The Patient Care Tech will perform delegated support functions and patient care duties that are within the scope of practice for unlicensed assistive personnel. The Patient Care Tech will demonstrate a commitment to teamwork through effective collaboration efforts.

PRE-HIRE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proof of high school or equivalent or higher education, required
  • Basic keyboarding skills, preferred
  • Clinical experience or CAN, preferred

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED PRIOR TO CLEARANCE TO WORK:

  • Attendance at New Employee Orientation classroom program
  • Aggression Management Training
  • Successful completion of Computer-Based orientation
  • Successful completion of Meditech Information System Orientation
  • Successful completion of Point of Care Testing Equipment Orientation
  • Successful completion of initial RQI Assignments
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers (if certified upon hire)

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED PRIOR TO INDEPENDENCE FROM PRECEPTOR:

  • Successful demonstration of clinical equipment appropriate to department
  • Successful completion of orientation skills checklist

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED PRIOR TO COMPLETION OF ORIENTATION, 90 DAY EMPLOYMENT, OR DATE SPECIFIED BY DESIGNATED EXECTUTIVE LEADERSHIP TEAM MEMBER:

  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers Class (if not certified upon hire)
  • Phlebotomy Training and Competency Checklist
    Other education and experience may be substituted (if applicable) for the required minimum job qualifications with the approval of the Chief Human Resources Officer
