This position involves working as a Patient Care Technician in the Dialysis Unit and also supporting operations within our Specialty Clinic. * Benefits include health insurance, life insurance, retirement plan, dental insurance, vacation leave, PTO hours, holiday pay, wellness benefits, short term and long term disability * Location: Blanding, UT Key Performance Indicators: Dialysis * Communicate with patients on a daily basis via telephone or in person * Assist in collecting and recording weights, temperatures, and blood pressures before and after dialysis * Document vital signs and patient conditions according to hospital policies * Collect blood samples and culture specimens * Review dialysis prescriptions and monitor patient health and compliance with treatments * Assist with dialysis therapy, monitor patient vitals, administer fluid therapy, and maintain accurate records * Provide patient education under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) * Set up, monitor, and dismantle dialysis machines and RO water systems * Ensure proper machine function, respond to alarms, and maintain cleanliness and disinfection protocols * Monitor inventory and report supply shortages * Adhere to hospital policies and state / federal regulations (CMS, HIPAA, OSHA) * Verify patient’s information by interviewing the patient, record medical history, confirming the purpose of the visit * All other duties as assigned and within scope of practice Specialty Clinic * Accompany patients to the exam room, obtain a current medical history including all allergies, previous surgeries and current medications and enter into the electronic health record (EHR). Basic systems assessments performed and entered into the (EHR) * Secure patient information, maintain patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records; complete diagnostic orders in the (EHR); keep patient information confidential * Counsel patients by transmitting physician’s orders and questions about surgery * Educates patients by providing education about all upcoming procedures, medications and all information needed to ensure the patient is educated about their care * Coordinate with the OR Scheduler for upcoming surgeries, verify times with patients; prepare charts, pre-admissions, testing and consent forms * Keep supplies ready; maintain supplies; Ensure that an inventory of supplies is kept so that the clinic is fully stocked with the items needed. Keep exam rooms and nurses stations clean.  Clean exam rooms after each patient  * Discuss with the manager any specialty supplies or needs * Complete records by recording patient examinations, treatment, and test results * Complete and close all clinic visits in the (EHR) in a timely fashion. Ensure all charting is completed, vitals are recorded and all documentation is in the chart prior to closing the visit. Record a clinic nurse visit and vital signs for each patient in the (EHR) * Communicate with the manager or charge nurse any additional needs of the clinic or patients * Report any issues with the clinic flow or staff to the manager * Schedule testing for patients and assist with obtaining all needed referrals * Works closely with the OR manager to ensure clinic and surgery processes are in place * Perform miscellaneous front desk duties such as registration. Schedule all needed testing and exams for patients.  Ensure that each patient is fully aware of the upcoming exams.  Assist with the prior authorization process for each patient  * Assist physician, physician assistant (PA) or nurse practitioner (NP) with minor procedures in clinic and radiology * Perform necessary pre-op testing such as but not limited to Covid screening, EKG, and other Labs * Attend all monthly team building and department meetings on a regular basis * Complete and maintain all education training.  Inform the manager of education opportunities that you may have   * All other duties as assigned and within scope of practice Requirements Experience, Training, and Qualifications needed to perform the job: * High school diploma or equivalent * Certification or registration within the state of Utah * Must be able to stoop, safely lift,  push and pull 25 pounds or more above the waist * Must possess a valid driver’s license * Must successfully pass a criminal background check * Must obtain and maintain first aid / cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification License / Certification: Dialysis * High school diploma or equivalent * Dialysis technician certification (or willingness to obtain within the required timeframe) * Ability to meet state certification requirements * Commitment to maintaining the dialysis technician certification  credentials once obtained Specialty Clinic * High school diploma or equivalent * Certification as a Medical Assistant (MA) preferred for pharmaceutical privileges * Certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) (or willingness to obtain within the required timeframe) * Commitment to maintaining the (MA) or (CNA) certification / licenses  General Requirements: In addition to the specific duties listed above, the Employee is required to do the following: * Any tasks, projects, or actions that are reasonably within the scope of the Employee’s position or employment, which the Employee’s supervisor, any member of BMH’s management, or BMH’s administration team—asks of the Employee.  Tasks, projects, or actions are “reasonably within the scope” of the Employee’s employment or position unless the same are so far removed therefrom that no legitimate argument can be made that such tasks, projects, or actions are in any way related to BMH or the Employee’s employment or position within BMH. * Act as professionally as should normally be required in a medical organization.  This shall include giving all appropriate respect and deference to licensed medical providers and behavioral health providers (hereafter jointly referred to as “Providers”).  Providers include, but may not be limited to physician assistants, nurse practitioners (or similar), and Physician Assistants. * Keep all BMH business and patient information strictly confidential and to adhere to all other BMH confidentiality policies and procedures, as well as all laws affecting confidentiality. * Refrain—whatsoever—from intentionally, purposely, knowingly, or negligently engaging in any conduct, actions, or speech that may cause concern, apprehension, confusion, or annoyance on the part of any BMH patient toward BMH as an organization or any BMH employee. * Work congenially and cooperatively at all times with all other BMH employees.  This includes maintaining a pleasant demeanor and attitude and executing position duties and administration’s/management’s other requests in a timely manner, diligently, and with a positive attitude.  This requirement further includes refraining from personally degrading any other person or BMH employee.  As part of this requirement, the Employee must refrain from engaging in gossip about any BMH employees and/or patients. * Communicate complaints about BMH, its policies, procedures, managers, administrators, and/or other employees—only to and through the appropriate BMH channels, which are limited to BMH’s management chain of command.  No complaints, judgments, or degrading comments about BMH, its policies, procedures, managers, administrators, and/or other employees—should be shared with anyone other than the appropriate persons within BMH’s management chain of command who have the ability to work to remedy any related problems.  Unless the Employee’s direct supervisor is part of the problem or complaint—problems and complaints should first be voiced to the Employee’s direct supervisor and upward therefrom through BMH’s internal management chain of command as appropriate and necessary.  It is an absolute dereliction of this duty by the Employee if the Employee ever—directly or indirectly (in conjunction or planning with others)—makes complaints or problems publicly known to anyone other than BMH’s management team or administrative team (neither include BMH Board Members). * If applicable (having access to), check the Employee’s BMH email no less frequently than once daily. * Absolutely refrain from communicating or releasing any “Private BMH Information” to the media and/or non-BMH persons or entities—without formal  approval to do the same by BMH’s CEO.  “Private BMH Information”, for purposes of this requirement, includes: (1) all information that requires confidentiality pursuant to any BMH policies or procedures; (2) all information that is protected by HIPAA or other applicable laws; (3) all information relating to BMH’s internal business workings, strategies, or plans; and (4) all information relating to any BMH employee or contractor.  This requirement remains applicable and shall stand regardless of whether the information being requested is of a private or public nature—if the information sought fits any of the above listed types.  Finally, this requirement remains applicable at all times, including when the Employee is off duty or away from BMH’s premises.
