Description PURPOSE STATEMENT A Patient Care Tech assists with nursing care, performs job functions according to specific age and/or developmental needs, and works under the supervision of the Registered Nurse and/or Charge Nurse of the unit. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Demonstrate knowledge in patient care i.e.: bathing patients, assisting patients with ambulation and/or transfers, vital signs, and other patient care. Demonstrate positive customer service relations? Routinely participate in Quality Improvement projects and encourage department to continuously improve Assist co-workers as needed/requested Support the Medical Center’s Mission/Vision/Philosophy positively Maintain regular and predictable attendance. Perform other essential duties as assigned. Requirements EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS High school diploma or equivalent Certification as Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA), preferred. Equivalent experience as a nursing assistant or a current nursing student that has completed the Fundamentals of Nursing is acceptable in lieu of certification. Current BLS, required (can obtain after hire) Must be self-motivated and have the ability to work within the established policies, procedures and practices prescribed by the hospital/clinic PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS Must be able to sit and stand, intermittent 8 to 12 hours a day. Must be able to use standard office equipment, including the telephone and computer keyboard. Continuously works under pressure of near 100% accuracy while meeting inflexible deadlines. Continuously utilizes manual/bi-manual dexterity, near vision, speech, and hearing. Frequently stands, walks, sits and utilizes eye/hand coordination and color definition. Occasionally reaches above shoulder, regularly required to lift and/or carry up to 35 lbs. Occasionally walks on uneven surfaces.
Responsibilities
The Patient Care Tech assists with nursing care, including bathing patients, monitoring vital signs, and helping with ambulation and transfers. They also participate in quality improvement projects and support the medical center's mission under the supervision of nursing staff.
