Description
Overview The Patient Care Technician assists in patient care throughout nursing areas, and is responsible for the safe transport of patients via wheelchair or stretcher, dispatch services and appropriate documentation of services. Provides the services of an Observer for any patient on a patient care unit who has been assessed to require constant observation in order to maximize his/her safety. Performs general receptionist and clerical duties in order to facilitate efficient functioning of the nursing unit. The Patient Care Technician through communication, requisitioning, and management of supplies and equipment, compliments the activities of the nursing staff, patients, physicians, other hospital departments, and visitors. He/She performs general receptionist and clerical duties in order to facilitate efficient functioning of the Department Special Instructions must be able to work a minimum of every other weekend. Shift will be 12 noon to 12 am. Must work a rotating schedule of 4 days one week and three days the next Qualifications Minimum Education: High school graduate or equivalent preferred Minimum Work Experience: Previous hospital or nursing home experience preferred Phlebotomy experience preferred Required Licenses/Certifications: Training/equivalent experience as a nursing assistant, CNA BLS or within 30 days of hire Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Ability to communicate effectively and document information accurately Ability to deal efficiently and effectively with a wide variety of individuals Knowledge of basic medical terminology preferred Basic computer knowledge is required Ability to move or lift patients and equipment
