Overview Patient Care Tech, Full Time Nights Ortho/Neuro *Schedule is 7 pm- 7 am 3 x 12 a week, must work 6 weekend shifts in a 6 week period *Hospital experience highly preferred Responsibilities The Patient Care Tech, under the supervision of licensed clinical staff, provides care to patients from birth through the lifecycle, demonstrating competency with treatments, procedures and equipment appropriate to the clinical setting and hospital policy. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:1. Assists with patient assessments to include collection of data regarding the patient’s physical, psychosocial, health history and document patient safety and quality initiatives.2. Assists patients and healthcare team with mobility, feeding, oral care, bathing, toileting, glucose checks, patient turning to maintain skin integrity and purposeful rounding while functioning independently with treatments, equipment and procedures appropriate to the scope of clinical practice.3. Documents in the EMR in a timely manner all vital signs and treatments provided.4. Communicates between all care partners effectively. Ensures primary nurse is aware of any issues, changes in patient condition, or concerns.5. Assists with admission and discharge process. Meets patient in the room when admitted whenever possible to obtain vital signs and assist with patient intake.6. Reinforces patient education provided by licensed staff.7. Responds to call lights and fall alarms.8. Where applicable, if acting in the Sitter role, the Patient Care Tech must remain with the patient at all times unless relieved by an appropriate staff member.9. Where applicable, if acting in the Unit Secretary role, the Patient Care Tech will act as a clerical resource for all staff to help facilitate the proper care and potential movement of the patient through the facility and beyond while managing incoming calls and visitors in a positive manner.10.
