Get to Know Your Team: Hillcrest Medical Center is a 656-bed hospital that includes The Alexander Burn Center, The Peggy V. Helmerich Women’s Health Center, Kaiser Rehabilitation Center, the latest technology for the treatment of cancer, and the Oklahoma Heart Institute. Learn About a Day in the Life of a PCT: Work in partnership with the registered nurse to support patient care. Monitor patients at timed intervals, document data as directed, and report observations and patient concerns to the registered nurse. Obtain and record patients vital signs accurately. Respond promptly to all call lights. Assist patients with mobility and basic tasks, such as bathing, dressing, eating and other ADLs. Assist in maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment for patients and staff. Participate in purposeful hourly rounding and bedside shift report as directed. Perform direct and indirect patient care duties as assigned and may provide clerical support to assigned unit Job Requirements: High school diploma or GED. BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care. Preferred Job Requirements: Completion of approved CNA, PCT or paramedic certification or currently enrolled in nursing school. Two (2) years of experience in acute or long-term care. Demonstrated proficiency in phlebotomy.
Responsibilities
The Patient Care Technician works in partnership with registered nurses to monitor patients, record vital signs, and document data. They also assist patients with daily living activities and maintain a clean, safe environment within the Intensive Care Unit.
