Get to Know Your Team: Lovelace Women’s Hospital is a 53-bed advanced neonatal intensive care unit, family care unit, an award-winning breast care center, and the first robotic surgery program in the state, recognized as a Center of Excellence in Robotic Surgery by Surgical Review Corporation. Learn About a Day in the Life of a PCT: Responsibilities Work in an entry-level position providing basic patient care under the direction of nursing and medical staff. Assist patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, eating, and other ADLs. Observe patients’ progress to prepare and disseminate reports to Registered Nurses or other medical staff. Obtain and record patients' vital signs and collect specimens for lab tests. Provide basic patient transport and housekeeping duties. Qualifications Job Requirements: High School or GED. BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care. Preferred Job Requirements: 1 year of experience in acute or long-term care. Knowledge of Medical Terminology. Experience in Phlebotomy or completion of a Phlebotomy course. Working towards approved CNA, PCT, or paramedic (EMT-P) certification.
Responsibilities
The Patient Care Technician provides basic patient care, including assisting with daily activities and monitoring patient progress. They are also responsible for obtaining vital signs, collecting lab specimens, and performing basic transport and housekeeping duties.
