Description Job Summary: The PCT is responsible for performing routine, technical clinical/clerical duties and assisting with other related duties involved in providing patient care. He/She will assist in the provision of patient care under the supervision of the LPN, RN, or Charge Nurse. Supervisory Responsibilities: No supervisory responsibilities. Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Works inside under normal temperature conditions with adequate light, in a well ventilated, clean area; some areas are limited in space; usually works around others; must expect some moderate noise. No unusual hazard risks; may be exposed to muscular strain in supporting, lifting, and assisting patients. Conditions of work may involve exposure to communicable diseases and on-the-job injuries. This position has an OSHA Category I level of exposure to blood and body substances. Category I tasks are all procedures or other job-related tasks involving an inherent potential for mucous membrane or skin contact with blood, body fluids or body tissues or a potential for spills or splashes with blood, body fluids or tissues. Use of appropriate protective measures is required for every employee engaged in Category I tasks. Duties/Responsibilities: 1. Promptly attends work as scheduled. 2. Maintains confidentiality of the patient’s medical condition, personal problems, and medical record. 3. Show initiative in completing job responsibilities. 4. Is neat, clean, and dressed according to the Dress Code Policy. 5. Works cooperatively and respectfully with other personnel. 6. Maintains a clean, safe, and neat work area. 7. Approaches the patient/significant other/visitor with a consistent respectful and concerned attitude. 8. Maintains cleanliness of patient 9. Collects and delivers specimens to appropriate departments 10. Assists with patient meals by serving and collecting trays, feeding when necessary 11. Helps with change of linens to ensure cleanliness of patient room and bed 12. Is subject to reassignment to units and shifts, when necessary 13. Answers call lights and runs errands as designated 14. Assists with lifting and transport of patient 15. Measures and accurately reports vital signs, weight, intake & output 16. Other duties as assigned *PCTs are NOT allowed to administer ANY form of medication. Requirements Required Skills/Abilities: Basic computer skills required Interpersonal skills- including customer relations, grammar, reading, and organizational skills Education and Experience: High School diploma or equivalent required BLS certification required Prior PCT/CNA experience preferred Physical Requirements: Must be able to walk, stand, stoop, lift, balance, sit, kneel, hear, reach, pull, talk, see, turn, carry, push, handle and write. This job requires you to reach above the head, push/pull 25 lbs, lift/carry up to 100 lbs, and lift from floor to waist level.
