Overview Patient Care Technician Marshalltown Hospital Shift: as-needed; one 12 hour shift per month; Holiday and weekend rotation The Patient Care Technician is a member of a multidisciplinary team, responsible for a variety of tasks and services to assist in the provision of care and comfort for patients under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). Performs delegated tasks per competency and seeks guidance when completing new or unfamiliar duties. Obtains, records, and accurately enters patient data into the EMR according to PCT Scope of Practice standards. Completes documentation promptly to ensure an accurate legal record of patient care. Communicates factual, concise, and timely patient information to the RN, healthcare team, patients, and families. Provides 1:1 observation for high-risk patients after completing CPI and sitter orientation. Conducts thorough, safety-focused hand-offs to communicate treatment plans, assessments, and patient needs. Demonstrates commitment to patient and workplace safety by preventing and reporting errors, accidents, and infections. Maintains accountability for knowing the current condition and needs of assigned patients. Qualifications Education: Completion of RN/Education lead training Day within 6 months of hire This position does not get reported with Direct Care Workers (DCW).
