Job Details Level: Entry Job Location: El Paso Childrens Hospital - El Paso, TX 79905 Position Type: Full Time Education Level: High School Job Shift: Day Job Category: Health Care Position Summary Functions as a key member of the nursing care team by participating in the implementation of select components of the patient’s plan of care under the direct training of the Registered Nurse, Charge Nurse, Clinical Coordinator, and Director. Promotes exceptional customer service with patients and their families and makes recommendations for improved patient care and the promotion and maintenance of a safe, cost-effective healthcare environment. Assists the Registered Nurse in providing ADL (activities of daily living) needs of patients. Communicates and documents patients’ status. Participates in various continuing education programs, surveys and attends staff meetings as directed. Follows hospital policies and procedures supporting performance improvement efforts in patient care services. Performs related duties as required. Qualifications Minimum Position Requirements Work Experience: One (1) year phlebotomy experience, preferred. Education and Training High school diploma or GED equivalent. License/Registration/Certification Current BLS (Basic Life Support). Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certificate. Skills: Competent in clinical skills required of Patient Care Technician. Effective oral and written communication skills. Ability to function effectively in a challenging environment. Proficient in venipuncture and capillary techniques. Proficient in waived and moderate complexity testing procedures. Knowledge of medical terminology. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred. Ability to read and comprehend English at a level necessary to follow written and oral instructions and safety precautions.
