Join the Behavioral Health Unit at UPMC Somerset as a full-time Patient Care Technician! This role is key to delivering high-quality patient care and supporting departmental functions. We're seeking candidates who are adaptable to working variable shifts, including rotating weekends and holidays, and who are passionate about positively impacting the lives of our patients. Responsibilities: Provide routine patient care and assist with activities of daily living Support physical, respiratory, and cardiopulmonary therapies. Perform core nursing assistant duties including: Blood glucose monitoring Weights Vital signs Intake & Output (I&O) Specimen collection Foley catheter care Perform at least four of the following advanced tasks: Phlebotomy 12-lead EKG Simple dressing changes Foley catheter removal Point-of-care testing Bladder scanning Straight catheterization IV catheter removal Assist with patient transport, meal tray distribution, and response to call lights. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team. Document patient care activities in the medical record accurately and timely. Support departmental initiatives and quality improvement projects. Maintain a safe and respectful environment, adhering to hospital policies and procedures. High school diploma or equivalent. If no previous hospital or pre-hospital training, must have one of the following: successful completion of UPMC patient care technician class successful completion of EIC training program successful completion of first year of clinical work in a nursing program. Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Paramedic or currently enrolled in an EMT or Paramedic program preferred. Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances: Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire Act 34 UPMC is an Equal Opportunity Employer/Disability/Veteran
