Under the general supervision of the Director of Nursing Services, the Patient Departure Lounge Associate plays a critical role in ensuring a smooth, safe, and positive discharge experience for patients and their families. This position is responsible for creating an exceptional final impression of Tampa General Hospital by delivering world-class service during one of the most important transitions in the patient journey going home. The associate serves as the primary point of contact in the Patient Departure Lounge, welcoming patients and families with professionalism and compassion, assisting with discharge logistics, and providing comfort and reassurance during wait times. Responsibilities include coordinating transportation, confirming discharge readiness, and ensuring patients have all necessary belongings and instructions Essential Functions · Greet patients and their families upon arrival to the departure lounge and clearly explain the discharge process. · Confirm transportation arrangements and assist patients in preparing for departure, ensuring all belongings and paperwork are complete. · Monitor the lounge for cleanliness, safety, and comfort, addressing any immediate needs such as seating or mobility assistance. · Liaise with nursing and other hospital staff to verify discharge readiness and resolve any last- minute issues. · Offer reassurance and assistance to patients and families, responding promptly to questions or concerns. · Follow all infection control, safety, and privacy protocols while supporting patients during the discharge process Education High School Diploma OR GED Certification Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Red Cross (ARC) OR American Heart Association (AHA) Work Experience and Additional Information Two (2) years of forward-facing customer experience. Clinical experience preferred
