Are you a high school student looking to gain healthcare experience while working a flexible schedule? UPMC Altoona is excited to hire an outgoing, energetic high school student (age 16 and up!) to work as a casual Patient & Family Concierge for our T12 Cardiology Unit! Make a difference in the hospital by helping patients, families, and visitors feel welcomed and supported. This flexible role involves greeting guests, providing directions, transporting patients, assisting with meals, cleaning and organizing spaces, stocking supplies, and ensuring a comfortable environment. You'll work across different areas of the hospital, learning valuable skills in healthcare, customer service, and teamwork. What You’ll Do: Welcome and guide patients and visitors, ensuring they get where they need to go. Help with meal delivery, light cleaning, and maintaining a safe, organized space. Assist with patient transport and supply distribution. Support nursing staff with basic tasks like answering call lights and distributing information. Keep track of patient belongings and provide parking assistance. *Performs in accordance with all other system-wide competencies/behaviors. *Performs other duties as assigned. This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a hospital setting, develop customer service skills, and be part of a team that makes a real impact. Must have the desire, drive, and compassion needed to provide an exceptional patient and family experience at all times. High School diploma OR active High School/GED program enrollment OR one year of previous job experience required in lieu of HS Diploma/GED. Previous experience in health care or customer service is a plus, but not required. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
