Description Essential Functions Greets patients waiting for an appointment. Screens log to determine priority. Evaluates patient’s inquiry to assess opportunities of request and how situation should be handled. Accesses information through use of billing system and interprets information. Advises patients of their financial responsibilities. Requests payment upon resolution of inquiry. Refers complex problems to appropriate individuals/areas. Documents patient inquiry and action taken in notes. Requirements Required Education and Experience: High school graduate with a minimum of two years experience part of which has been in a collection function. Ability to assess complex situations where multiple options are available and decide upon the best course of action. Has a good speaking voice and is able to communicate in a clear and concise manner. Able to conduct thorough interviews concerning financial matters in a relaxed and supportive manner. Ability to use CRT including data retrieval. Good public relation skills including effective handling of hostile behaviors. Possesses knowledge of basic telephone etiquette. Able to demonstrate the ability for creative or resourceful problem-solving. Is able to compose routine written business correspondence.
