Job Summary: Acts as a Nurse Assistant or staff member with additional patient mobility training who provides safe patient transfer assistance using approved assistive devices and procedures in the acute hospital setting. Acts as a coach to nursing, physical therapists, and families on proper techniques for safe patient mobility and is assistive devices. Job Requirements: Education and Work Experience: High School Education/GED or equivalent: Required Associate’s/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred Two years' technical experience: Preferred Facility Specific License/Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQI BLS) certification: Required Essential Functions: Determines the appropriate equipment and method of patient transfer after assessing the patient’s ability to provide assistance, bear weight, cooperate and follow directions, height/weight, special circumstances, and physician orders. Demonstrates use of patient transfer equipment/device use, patient mobility techniques, and body mechanics in a safe manner. Transfers patients from bed to chair, toilet/commode and return, bed to gurney and return, and repositioning up in bed or chair. Provides minor patient care assistance as needed and time allows, during performance of mobility duties, such as incontinence care, setting patient or tray up for meals, etc. Actively participates in educational activities and self-development to enhance professional growth. Offers assistance to escort team or nurses as needed. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
