Responsibilities

What you’ll do:

  • To act as a point of contact for relatives when first arriving on the ward
  • Liaise with the Nurse in Charge and MDT teams to support with complex discharges
  • To support the Nurse in Charge with community referrals to ensure smooth transition for our discharging patients
  • To manage telephone calls, communicating professionally and efficiently with staff and patients as well as redirecting calls as necessary in a timely manner
  • To ensure patients and families are kept informed of any delays to planned procedures for the day
  • To assist patient flow and timelines in liaison with the respective departments where tests or procedures will be carried out
  • To lead on ordering of stationary and office supplies for the unit
  • To ensure all systems are accurately updated and charges for patients stays have been completed timely
  • To lead on collecting and entering patient feedback
  • To ensure that patient medical records are stored and sent for filing in a timely manner
  • To undertake any other duties within the scope of practice as directed by the Ward Manager
