The Patient Placement Specialist 1 is an entry-level position responsible for supporting patient placement operations within the hospital. This position involves assisting with patient admissions, transfers, and bed management, ensuring that patients are placed in appropriate units based on their needs. The role requires familiarity with basic clinical needs, healthcare regulations, hospital policies, and information systems. The Patient Placement Specialist 1 will work collaboratively with clinical staff, admissions, and other departments to ensure efficient patient flow, manage patient placements, and assist with scheduling and documentation. Essential Functions Assist in coordinating patient placements across various hospital departments by monitoring bed availability and patient needs. Support in verifying patient demographic, clinical, and financial information to ensure accurate registration and placement. Effectively communicate with clinical teams, administrators, and external departments to facilitate patient admissions, transfers, and discharges. Utilize hospital information systems and patient placement software to track bed availability, manage patient records, and ensure the accuracy of all information. Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, including HIPAA, CMS, JCAHO, and EMTALA. Ensure patient information is handled confidentially and according to standards. Assist with the coordination of patient care needs, working with nurses, physicians, and other hospital departments to ensure smooth transitions. Assist in monitoring patient flow, generating reports, and contributing to process improvements that support patient placement and operational efficiency. Provide a welcoming, supportive, and professional experience for patients, family members, and other stakeholders during all aspects of patient placement and admission.
