Description Summary/Objective Answers all telephone calls directed to Patient Financial Services concerning patient accounts, while staying within Department standard. Advises patients of their financial responsibility and Watson Clinic policy when necessary. Requests payment after patient inquiry is addressed. Essential Functions Answers all telephone calls directed to PFS concerning patient accounts. Stays within Department standard. Accesses and updates information through the use of the billing system and interprets information to answer patient inquiry. Refers complex problems that require in-depth research and follow-up to the appropriate area Answers patient correspondence, either by written or verbal response within Department standards Advises patients of their financial responsibility and Watson Clinic policy when necessary. Request payment after their inquiry is addressed. Requirements Required Education and Experience High School Graduate or equivalent required. Two years medical business office or related field. Basic medical terminology. Aptitude to retain detailed information. Possess advanced skills in using telephone as a primary instrument for communicating with customer service telephone etiquette. Has a good speaking voice and is able to communicate ideas in a clear and concise manner. Ability to be multi-task oriented. Must be able to assess a situation and decide best course of action. Additional Eligibility Qualifications Accurate typing rate of 40 wpm required. Has excellent communication skills, oral and written. Able to sit for long periods of time, restricted to telephone activities. Must be able to operate the following equipment: copier, fax machine, computer, and 10-key calculator. Professional appearance and manner required.
