Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:

The Patient Service Representative Supervisor is responsible for creating and maintaining a positive, welcoming environment for all patients, families, and visitors while performing the requested duties. These duties will include interviewing patients and/or families to obtain all demographic and financial information, scheduling and confirming patient appointments, verifying patient insurance, explaining financial responsibility to patient or patient representative, and collecting same-day payments.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Leadership experience is a healthcare environment
  • Experience working with front office, insurance verification highly preferred
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • At least 2 - 3 years office experience in a healthcare setting required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Requires the use of office equipment, such as computers, fax machines, telephones, and copiers
  • Requires computer related activities for extended periods of time
  • Requires the ability to see, hear, speak, write and key

Responsibilities

(60%) Patient Care

  • Creates a positive patient and customer experience by representing the US Radiology Way
  • Greets patients, families, and visitors in a courteous and helpful manner
  • Ensures accuracy of patient data entered in the RIS
  • Participates in TOS collection of patient financial responsibility and works with Center Manager and the rest of the front office team to reach monthly TOS goals
  • Schedules and confirms for walk-in diagnostic exams and procedures
  • Confirms all tests have required orders
  • Communicates to patient or patient representative any financial responsibility
  • Calmly handles patient experience and customer service issues, and effectively resolves escalating situations
  • Acts as primary point of escalation for all front-end challenges and escalates particularly complex issues to Center Manager
  • Provides input and support for new initiatives and process implementation
  • Acts as on-site leadership in absence of center manager, helping to manage center activities

(35%) Staff Management

  • Manages the training and onboarding of new team members
  • Participates in the recruiting, interviewing, and hiring process
  • Leads regular staff meetings and associate one-on-ones
  • Monitors and approves timecards
  • Initiates and participates in staff performance evaluations and on-going development of team members including performance improvement plans, disciplinary actions and/ or terminations when necessary
  • Defines job responsibilities/specialty tasks and priorities
  • Develops and monitors the teams’ performance through a QA process
  • Establishes employee schedules to provide for planned time off, ensuring appropriate staffing levels and adequate department coverage

(5%) Completes other tasks and projects as assigned
