Description The Safety Attendant is responsible for the direct supervision of any patient requiring monitoring for high risk for falls, intoxication, profound confusion, involuntary commitment (IVC), suicidal patients, and any other patient that would be deemed as unsafe. Responsibilities: Provide continuous, uninterrupted observation of the patient (even during bathing/toileting activities and during visitation). Maintain order and safety of the environment. Communicate patient information to nurse in a timely manner. Monitoring a patient for safety requires one’s full attention; therefore, the PSA/sitter will refrain from texting, talking on the phone, electronic gaming, reading, doing schoolwork, doing crosswords, online learning modules or similar activities. The PSA/sitter is prohibited from leaving the patient’s room without coverage. The PSA/sitter will remain with the patient until further assignment from the charge nurse (even if a family member is present). The PSA/sitter will be expected to document on the sitter flow sheet form as follows: Safety sitter – every one hour Suicide precautions – every 15 minutes x 4, then hourly Other duties as assigned Shift: 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM, and every other weekend Requirements High school graduate or equivalent. Must be 18 years of age or older. CPI training within 30 days of hire Able to pass background on onboarding screening processes. Must possess full range of body motion to pass basic FIT test for position to include walking, kneeling, standing, pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, reaching and sitting for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds Complete safety attendant training during onboarding and annually Excellent verbal and written communications skills Physical hold training within 30 days of hire
Responsibilities
